My mom has made a quilt for each of her 10 grandchildren so far. My boys are lucky to have such a talented Grandma. Evan has a sock monkey quilt that was inspired by a duck duck goose quilt I saw at a quilt shop while pregnant with him. My mom worked on it while she stayed in the hospital with me in San Francisco. I requested something nautical for Seth's quilt to coordinate with his bedroom, and my mom surprised me with the design. When I was pregnant with Cameron I knew I wanted a Brown Bear themed room if I had a boy. I saw this quilt design on Pinterest and fell in love. The quilt was a challenge because the fabric for the animals was out of print and impossible to find. My mom had to jimmy rig another fabric and alter the pattern to make it work, but it was definitely worth the extra effort. I'm glad the boys have a reminder of their Grandma's love for them.
I have my own handmade blanket from my Grandma. I remember looking through a book of patterns when I was young and picking which one I wanted her to knit for me. Last Sunday Cameron was given a blessing while wrapped in it, just like Seth and Evan each were. He was also wearing the same outfit that his older brothers and all 4 of my brothers wore. Tradition!
